9Disengagethetransceivermoduleandthepoweramplierfromthebackplaneasfollows:
a.UsingaT20bit,loosenthetwocaptivescrewsonthefrontofeachmodule,sotheydisengagefromthe
chassis.
Itisrecommendtoletthepowerampliermodulecoolbeforeperformingthefollowingstep,
whichexposessurfacesofthemodulethatcanbeextremelyhot.
b.Usingthehandles,gentlypullthemodulesuntilthemodulesdisengagefromthebackplane.
10UsingaT20bit,removethescrewthatsecuresthetabontherightEMIspringpanel.SeeFigure9-11.
RemovingtheleftEMIspringpanelisoptional.
11CarefullyslidetheEMIspringpanelforward,notinghowthepanelisafxedontothepowersupplyguiderail.
Thepaneldoesnotneedtobecompletelyremoved.
12Removethefancablefromthebackplane,fromthefrontofthechassis,withthebackplanestillsecuredto
thechassis,asfollows:
a.Followthefancablewithyourhandfromitsconnectoratthefrontofthechassistoitsconnectiontothe
backplane,throughthecardcagesectionfromwherethepowersupplymodulewasremoved.
b.Removethefancablesmulti-pinconnectorfromthebackplane.
Squeezethetopandbottomoftheconnectorandpulltheconnectorstraightoutfromthebackplane.
13Removethevescrews,usingaT20bit,thatsecurethemetalbackplanecoverandthebackplanecircuit
boardtotherearofthechassis.
14Removethemetalbackplanecoverandthebackplanecircuitboard.
15Placethenewbackplanecircuitboardinthesamelocationandorientationastheoneremoved.

Beforesecuringthevescrewsintothebackplanecircuitboardandbackplanecover,allscrews
shouldbestartedrstbeforetheyareseatedandfullysecured.
Securethenewbackplanecircuitboardandthebackplanecovertotherearofthebaseradiochassiswiththe
vescrewspreviouslyremoved.Torqueto18+/-2in.-lbs.
