9.3 High Security Mode
9.3.1 General description
The High Security Mode is a security mode complying with the IEEE2600.1 Security Standards
Requirement.Tohavetheequipmententerthismode,followtheprocedureandtheprecautions
below.
9.3.2 Prior confirmation
• Conrmthattheadministratorfortheequipmentisauthorizedandaskhim/hertoobservethe
installation.
• Tohavetheequipmententer theHighSecurityMode,theDataOverwriteEnablerGP-1070
(optional)is required. Conrmthat thisoptionis installedin advance. FollowtheUnpacking
Instructions to install it.
• Toavoidphysicalsecurityproblems,suchashardwareremovalorinappropriatedisassembly
attheinstallationsite,takeallnecessarymeasures,suchascheckingwhoentersandleaves
the site.
• Conrmthatnoreceivedfaxdataorprintjobsinprogressexist.Ifthereareany,besureto
print them all out before entering the High Security Mode.
• TheHDDisinitializedintheHighSecurityMode.Besurersttobackupuserdatasuchas
documents,AddressBook,templatesorfaxsettingsusingtheexportfunctionorthebackup/
restoreutilityof theWebPage.Referto itemsnotedin
P.9-5“9.2AESData Encryption
Function Setting”.
• MakeanoteofthesettingsontheAdministrationtabpageoftheWebPageinadvance.
• Compatibilityofcloningdataislostbetweenthe HighSecurityModeandthenormalmode;
therefore,cloningdatacannotbeimported.

9.3.3 Procedure for entering the High Security Mode
(1) Setthevalueofthecode08-8911(Securitymodelevelsetting)to“3”(High).Thenrestart
theequipment.
(2) Akey-shapediconappearsatthebottomofthetouchpanel,indicatingthatitisnowinthe
High Security Mode.
(3) Press[COUNTER]buttononthecontrolpanel.Ifakey-shapedicon,indicatingthattheHDD
dataarebeingencrypted,apaper-shapediconindicatingthattheDataOverwriteEnabler
isoperatingnormallyandtheversionnameoftheinstalledsystemROM(SYSV1.0)are
displayedonthetoprightofthecountermenu,thismeansthemodeisoperatingnormally.
(4) Reset the user data backed up in advance.
