Description of the AXC 3050 controller
8686_en_01 PHOENIX CONTACT 13
PROG (X4) service/programming interface
This USB interface can be used to connect the controller to a PC using the PC Worx soft-
ware. The interface is used for programming and parameterization of the AXC 3050. It is de-
signed as a type B micro USB socket.
USB A (X6)
You can connect a USB memory stick to this interface.
The USB memory stick can be used for various functions:
– Updating the AXC 3050 firmware
– Exchanging project/boot project files
– Continuous data acquisition (data logging)
Parameterization memo-
ry/SD card
The AXC 3050 has an internal parameterization memory. This memory can be used to store
programs and configurations which belong to your project, e.g., the visualization project. If
the internal parameterization memory is not large enough for your application, the
AXC 3050 can be operated using a plug-in parameterization memory in the form of an SD
memory card (referred to as SD card below) and/or a USB memory stick (referred to as USB
stick below). The plug-in parameterization memory is optional and is not required in order
to operate the AXC 3050.
We recommend using USB stick: VS-04-MS-IP20 (Order No. 1402490), USB memory
stick, IP20, USB 2.0 (for ordering data refer to “Accessories” on page 132)
Application protection
In order to protect the application and the AXC 3050, the copying and update function for
this interface can be deactivated in the PC Worx software. Please observe the notes in
Section “Copy/Update function via plug-in parameterization memory (USB stick)” on
page 104.
To operate the AXC 3050 with or without plug-in parameterization memory, please refer
to Section “Operating the controller with or without plug-in parameterization memory (SD
card/USB stick)” on page 99.
The plug-in parameterization memory is not supplied as standard with the AXC 3050.
Only use a parameterization memory provided by Phoenix Contact (for ordering data, see
“Accessories” on page 132).
