Product description
3.2.3 Cascading
Cascading can only be realised with the M4000 Area 60 multiple light beam safety device.
On cascading with a C4000 safety light curtain, the M4000 Area 60 can be connected in
series, e.g. to realise safe point-of-operation guarding for hazardous point protection. To
protect two planes, two device pairs — one safety light curtain and one multiple light beam
safety device (as a terminal device) can be connected in series. The device connected to
the control cabinet is the main sensor, called Host. The subsequent sensor is called Guest.
Benefits of cascading
No additional external circuitry required.
Resolution and monitored areas (height or length) of the individual systems can differ.
Limits of cascading
The maximum width of the monitored area must not be exceeded by any single system!
The maximum cable length between two cascaded systems must not exceed 3 metres.
