The MLG-2 ProNet PROFINET is a PROFINET field device and is integrated as a slave
into a P
ROFINET network. The MLG-2 consumes data of the master from the PROFINET
(output data) and produces data for the PROFINET (input data).
Cyclic data (process data)
Modules are available as process data (see "Object library", page 80) and are used to
compose communication messages.
Acyclic data (service data)
Record request and Record response enable access to the MLG-2's object library.
The service data enables PROFINET field devices to be parameterized and configured,
and for status information or process data to be read. Communication is via PROFINET
read/write record indication and record response.
In the Record indication, a read or write command is sent for an index. The Record
response contains the answer to a request.
A Record indication is transmitted from the master to the slave. The MLG-2 interprets
this request and makes data available.
The different data sets (objects) are addressed using indexes. An object’s index speci‐
fies the data object within a slot/subslot.
NOTE
On the ML
G-2, the data objects are independent of the slot and subslot. A valid slot/
subslot/index addressing must simply be used (e.g., 1/1/2,240h).
Prerequisites
The f
ollowing prerequisites must be met:

The MLG-2 must be connected correctly to the control (see "T-connector for MLG-2
WebChecker connection", page 45).
•
A correct address must be configured for the MLG-2.
