7.16 Echosounder: Range
Range is the vertical extent shown on the Echosounder screen. You
can increase or decrease the range.

To change the range:
• Display the Echosounder pane and the main menu. If you can't
see the
Range, Zoom and Split button, select Return.
• Select
Range, Zoom and Split. The depth column shows
the current range. Select either:
◦ Range + to increase the range OR
◦ Range - to decrease the range.
7.17 Echosounder: Range shift

To adjust the range shift:
• Display the Echosounder pane and the main menu. If you can't
see the
Range, Zoom and Split button, select Return.
• Select
Range, Zoom and Split.
• The
Range Shift button shows the current setting. Select it
to change the setting. Select either:
◦ Shallower to view a different part of the water column,
closer to the surface OR
◦ Deeper to view a different part of the water column,
closer to the bottom.
• Select
OK.
Note: If you select Vessel, the upper value of the range shift
automatically resets to 0.
7.18 Echosounder: Zoom range
The zoom range is the vertical extent of the zoomed area. The
depth line in the right hand pane is always at the center of the
zoomed area.
The depth line is also shown in the center of the zoomed screen,
with the actual depth shown in numbers. The numbers at the top
and bottom of the zoomed pane show the actual depths of the
zoomed area.
You can increase or decrease the zoom range, but remember that
the best magnification is achieved over a small vertical extent.
