For example, to halt the system immediately type:
5. After halting the operating system, wait for either the > or ok prompt.
The system displays system halt messages followed by either the > or ok prompt.
When either prompt appears, you can safely turn off the power in the proper
sequence.
6. Turn off the power to the system components in this order:
a. External drive units (if you have any)
b. System unit
c. Monitor
6.2 Powering On the System
Caution Before turning on power to your system, be sure to close the system unit.
It is not safe to operate your SPARCstation while the system unit is open.
Caution These devices are equipped with a 3-wire grounded power cord. To
reduce the risk of electrical shock, always plug the power cord into a properly
grounded power outlet.
Caution Always allow 10 seconds between turning off the power and turning it
back on again. This pause prevents possible damage to power supply components in
your system unit.
After turning off the power to replace a part, restarting the system is relatively
simple:
1. Reconnect the cables.
See Section 7.5 “Reconnecting the External Cables” on page 7-7.
