Hard Disk Drives
This chapter describes how to remove and install a hard disk drive for a
SPARCstation 10 system.
Note - The SPARCstation 10 supports the 424-Mbyte and 1.05-Gbyte hard disk drives,
called “fast SCSI” drives. You must inspect and, if necessary, reset the SCSI Device ID
jumpers for the type of drive you are installing. When the jumpers are properly set,
each drive is automatically assigned a specific and unique SCSI Device ID number.
Tools Needed
To remove and install the disk drive, you need the following tools and materials:

Wrist strap

Antistatic surface
Removing a Disk Drive
Power off the system and disconnect the expansion units. Refer to Chapter 4.
