Basics
Clicking the BASICS tab brings up the BGP BASIC SETTINGS page (Figure 5-126). The
parameters for this page are shown in Table 5-107.

Parameter Description
Status
This parameter specifies the BGP administration status. Using this, the protocol
can be enabled/disabled in the switch.
AS Number
This parameter specifies the autonomous system to which the switch is
connected, which is a read-only field. The allowed value ranges between 1 to
65535. The default value is 0.
Synchronization
The synchronization between IGP and BGP can be ensured by enabling this
field.
Router ID This parameter specifies the router address.
Overlap Router Policy
This parameter represents the policy for handling overlapping routes. When an
overlapping route is received, depending upon the configured policy, either the
less-specific routes or most-specific routes or both are installed in the RIB tree.
Default Local
Preference
This parameter sets a preference value for the autonomous system path.
Advertisement of
Non-BGP Routes
You can choose to advertise even the external non-BGP routes by enabling this
feature.
Always Compare
MED
By enabling this feature, you can choose to always compare the MED values of
paths from different neighbors for the same prefix, for choosing the best path.
