Engine Removal
6. Remove the bolt, washer, and nut securing the red
positive cable to the battery terminal, then remove
the battery (Fig. 343).
1. Turn the engine off and remove the key from the
ignition.
2. Turn the fuel shutoff valve to the “OFF” position (Fig.
340).
5. Remove the bolt, washer, and nut securing the black
ground cable to the battery terminal (Fig. 342).

3. Drain the engine oil.
4. Remove the two sets of wingnuts and hold down
bolts securing the battery cover, then remove the
cover (Fig. 341).
