Chapter 1: Overview
This chapter provides a general description of the
OsmoTECH PRO®, its components, and its mechanical
and electrical operation.
1.1 Product description
The OsmoTECH PRO multi-sample micro-osmometer
uses the technique of freezing-point depression to
measure the osmolality of aqueous solutions. It is
designed to process batched test samples (30 μL sample
volume/20 sample capacity) with automated operation.
Osmometers measure the number of solute particles
irrespective of molecular weight or ionic charge. This
information is useful to the following disciplines:
• Biotechnology and pharmaceutical research and
manufacturing
• Academic research
• Industrial applications
