5. If the plunger shows signs of fouling, wipe it with a
lint-free cloth dampened with isopropyl alcohol or
cleaning solution for protein removal

6. Reinstall the plunger and spring.
7. Attach the solenoid bracket, and secure the rear
cover.Clean the solenoid with a lint-free cloth
dampened with isopropyl alcohol or cleaning
solution for protein removal, such as Thermo
Scientific Orion Cleaning Solution, part number
900021.
8. Reinstall the plunger and spring, attach the solenoid
bracket, and install the rear cover.
Annual maintenance:
Use a mixture of warm water and soap to clean the
exterior of the instrument. Use isopropyl alcohol to
further decontaminate the exterior.
• Do not use abrasive cleansers or scouring pads, as
they may damage the surface.
• Do not allow liquid to enter the cooling chamber and/
or other portions of the instrument.

6.2 Shutdown and storage
Overnight or weekend:
1. Remove all used osmometer sample cups and used
wiper rings.
2. Wipe up any resulting spills.
3. Turn o the instrument (optional).
CAUTION: Do not cover the instrument unless it is turned
o. Instrument overheating or damage to the cooling
fans can result.
One week or longer:
1. Remove all used osmometer sample cups and used
wiper rings.
2. Wipe up any resulting spills.
3. Turn o the instrument.
4. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
5. Cover the instrument.
