Chapter 6: Maintenance and Service
If you need assistance with service procedures, contact
Technical Service (see Contacting Advanced
Instruments). Have the model and serial number from
the bottom of the instrument available when you speak
to a technician.
If you need to send your Instrument for servicing, a
Technical Service representative will provide you with an
RMA number. Units are not accepted for service without
an RMA number.
WARNING: Always unplug the power cord
before opening or removing the instrument
cover. You could be exposed to electric shock,
excessive temperatures, or mechanical
hazards.
NOTICE: A discharge of static electricity from
contact with the human body or other
conductor can damage system boards or
static-sensitive devices. Never perform internal
maintenance without following recommended
electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection
procedures.
6.1 Who should perform service?
Only Advanced Instruments-trained service engineers
should perform service or maintenance procedures due
to the following issues:
The power cord, extension cord, power strip, or power
input module is damaged.
Liquid has spilled into the interior of the product.
A foreign object has fallen into the product.
The product has been dropped or damaged by a
falling object.
There are noticeable signs of overheating or a burning
odor.
The product does not operate normally when you
follow the operating procedures.
The main supply fuse(s) or any internal fuse(s)
continually fail.
6.1 Maintenance
Regularly maintain the OsmoTECH PRO to conserve
instrument accuracy and precision. Follow the service
schedules below to adequately maintain the instrument.
Daily maintenance
Verify instrument accuracy daily using Advanced
Instruments references and controls. You may need to
recalibrate the instrument if test results are outside of
the expected ranges of the references and controls.
NOTE: We recommend using Clinitrol 290 Reference
Solution, Protinol Protein-Based Controls, and
Renol Urine Osmolality Controls.
Sample Probe
Inspect the sample probe [A] daily to ensure that it is
clean and free of any sample build-up.

1. Press CLEANING.
2. Remove the turntable
3. Press LOWER PROBE.
4. Clean the probe using a lint-free wipe and
isopropyl alcohol or a protein cleaner solution

5. Press DONE.
The probe returns to the home position.
