To replace the nebulizer needle for the ESI with Agilent Jet Stream

8 Push a new ferrule, flat-side first, onto the needle.
9 Be sure the needle does not extend from the ferrule.
10 Reinstall the locknut and the union. Hand tighten the union.
11 Hold the needle holder steady with a 3-mm wrench. Tighten the union
one-quarter to one-half turn to compress the ferrule.

12 Tighten the locknut against the union.
13 Pull carefully on the needle to ensure the needle is held firmly in place.
14 Replace locknut and washer.
15 Insert the needle into the nebulizer shaft.
Take care when inserting the needle. The tapered end of the needle must pass through
the restrictions in the nebulizer shaft. The tip of the needle can be damaged if
excessive force is applied.
