Appendix A: Connector Care Review 
Proper connector care and connection techniques are critical for accurate and 
repeatable measurements. The following table contains for tips on connector 
care. 
Prior to making connections to your analyzer, carefully review the information 
about inspecting, cleaning, and gauging connectors. For course numbers about

Do 
  Keep connectors clean 
  Extend sleeve or connector nut 
  Use plastic end-caps during storage 
 
Do Not 
  Touch mating-plane surfaces 
  Set connectors contact-end down 
  Store connectors or adapters loose 
Do 
  Inspect all connectors carefully 
  Look for metal particles, scratches, 
  and dents

  Use a damaged connector - ever

  Try compressed air first 
  Use isopropyl alcohol

Cleaning connectors with alcohol shall only be done with the DC power cord removed, in a well-
ventilated area, and with the power to the FireFox turned OFF. Allow all residual alcohol moisture to 
evaporate, and the fumes to dissipate prior to energizing the instrument.
