Repair Group 15 – Cylinder head, valve gear

– Loosen central bolt -1- for toothed belt drive sprocket ap-
prox. 2 turns using counterhold tool -3036-.
– Use puller -T10320- to pull off toothed belt drive sprocket.
Continuation for both sides:
– Remove cylinder head cover (left or right) ⇒ page 107.
– Unscrew retaining frame bolts and nuts in the sequence
-18 ... 1-.
Make sure you do not damage roller rocker fingers and com-
pensation elements when removing camshafts.
– Carefully remove retaining frame and camshafts.
Installing
– Remove sealant residue from cylinder head and retaining
frame using a rotating plastic brush or similar.
Caution!
The camshafts MUST be installed using the camshaft insert
tool -T40094- as described in the following, as the thrust
bearings in the retaining frame would otherwise be de-
stroyed. The cylinder head would then have to be renewed.
WARNING!
Wear safety goggles.
Caution!
Make sure that no sealant residue gets into the cylinder head
or the bearings.
