plied to the selected band.
Note that when you adjust Lo Gain, the
Shelf/Peak indicator next to the onscreen
control automatically shifts to Peak mode
when boost is applied, and shifts to Shelf
mode when cut is applied.
Note that when you select the Hi band, the
label below the Gain control displays Hi
Peak or Hi Shelf, depending on which
mode has been selected. Push the knob to
toggle between the two modes.
The center SoftKnob is the Freq control and
adjusts the center frequency of the selected
EQ band.
In Lo Freq mode, rotating the knob ad-
justs the center frequency of the low EQ
band (25 - 400 Hz).
In Mid Freq mode, rotating the knob ad-
justs the center frequency of the midrange
EQ band (100 Hz - 1 kHz).
In Hi Gain mode, the knob adjusts the
boost/cut of the high frequency band.
Pressing the center SoftKnob toggles EQ be-
tween Active and Bypass.
Note: High, Mid and Low band adjustments
provide up to 25 dB of cut and 15 dB of boost.
Element EQ features SmartQ™ automatic band-
width system that varies the Q of the selected
parametric band to provide the most pleasing
EQ effect. For details on SmartQ, please refer
to Page 44 of this manual.
When the Preview to Headphones box is
highlighted, the HP Prev/Take knob controls
whether audio from the Preview bus is fed to the
board op’s headphones, and if so, in what man-
ner. Rotating this knob selects from the following
options:
Off: The operator will not hear Preview au-
dio in the headphone channel.
On: audio from the Preview channel over-
rides the Headphone Monitor selection and
is sent to both the left and right channels of
the operator’s headphones.
Split: Audio from the Preview channel
overrides the Headphone Monitor selection

in the left headphone channel only. Program
audio is still present in the right channel of
the operator’s headphones.
After making a selection, push the knob to
Take the new value.
When the Monitor Mode box is highlighted, the
operator can rotate the Monitor/Take knob to
select from the following options.
Stereo: The selected source will be present-
ed in stereo on the Monitor speakers.
Left: The left channel of the selected source
will be presented in both Monitor speakers.
Right: The right channel of the selected
source will be presented in both Monitor
speakers.
Sum L+R: Both channels of the selected
source will be summed and presented to both
Monitor speakers.
After making a selection, push the knob to Take
the new value.
When the Headphone Mode box is highlighted,
the HP Mode knob is active. This control works
the same as the Monitor Mode control described
above, but affects the board operator’s headphone
channel.
Pushing the Function/Exit knob returns you to
the main Element screen.
The second Monitor Options screen (press the
Monitor Options key a second time) is shown in Fig-
ure 4-30:
Rotating the Function/Exit SoftKnob high-
lights the different control boxes onscreen, mak-
ing the highlighted control active. Labels on the
other SoftKnobs change depending on context.
When the Rightmost Meter box is highlighted,
rotating the Met Mode/Take knob selects how
the far right meter on Element’s main screen will
behave. Pressing this knob will Take your selec-
tion.
Dedicated means the meter will be slaved to
