5.4 Downtimes
NOTICE!
Risk of material damage due to medium remaining in the
Börger machine
If the medium remains in the Börger machine during storage
periods and long downtimes, it can cause material damage to the
wedge wire screen and make it more difficult to start the Börger
machine.
It is essential to empty the Börger machine before storage or
long downtimes, especially with swelling media such as
paper.

In the case of other media, such as slurry, allow a corre-
sponding soaking time for the medium so that the machine
can be restarted after a long downtime.
5.4.1 Downtimes - operation with control unit
Operating manual of the control unit
Pay attention to all the instructions and safety regulations contained in
the operating manual of the control unit in the appendix.
Read and follow the safety instructions detailed in

2.12 “Safety instructions for maintenance and rectifying mal-
functions” on page 37.
1. Release the pre-tension of the Multi Disc by releasing the
spring or, for the pneumatic version, releasing the pressure.
2. Run the "
Emptying" program until:
the idling current has been reached and
the pressure upstream of the liquid phase pump is at 0.0
bar (0.0 psi).
3. Close the liquid phase outlet.
4. Leave the residual substrate in the Bioselect during normal
downtimes, provided the type of substrate does not prevent
this and there is no risk of it drying out (airtight closed
system).
