The cover of the clamping unit may not be removed, and must
always be carefully reinstalled and closed after being opened or
removed for maintenance purposes.
2.8.3 Counter bearing cover
The counter bearing must be secured by a fixed cover against
reaching in.
The cover may not be removed, and must always be carefully rein-
stalled and closed after being opened or removed for maintenance
purposes.
2.8.4 Intermediate chamber
The separator interior is separated from the gear unit by a fluid-
filled intermediate chamber (see
Ä
Chapter 6.2.2 “Lubricant fill
level and changing the lubricants” on page 123) as standard. The
heat-absorbing quench fluid prevents the mechanical seal from
running dry and captures any substrate that enters the inter-
mediate chamber due to leaks in the shaft seal. This quench func-
tion also prevents the gear unit from being damaged by intrusion of
the substrate.
Additional intermediate space is provided between the inter-
mediate chamber and gear unit. This way, particularly high protec-
tion of the gear unit against damage by penetrating substrate is
guaranteed.
