The thick matter, which is continuously transported into the com-
pactor unit via the brush auger during the separation process, is
initially collected and compressed in the press channel (3.3) of the
sealed compactor unit when its amount increases.
If the increasing accumulation of thick matter reaches a point at
which the resulting force exceeds the pre-tension setting of the
tension spring (4.1.1), the thick matter pushes the Multi Disc (3.1)
out of its closed position.
The thick matter outlet opens and the thick matter is discharged
downwards from the open side ( symbol) of the counter bearing
casing (3.2).
In addition, the Multi Disc (3.1) is equipped with peeling tabs which
peel the material pushing outwards off the thick matter plug in the
event of congestion.
As soon as the pressure exerted by the thick matter on the Multi
Disc (3.1) reduces, the pre-tension of the tension spring (4.1.1)
brings the Multi Disc (3.1) back into its closed position.
The adjustment mechanism (3.4) holds the Multi Disc (3.1) and
transmits the torque to the Multi Disc (3.1). The spring tension is
transmitted to the Multi Disc via the adjustment mechanism (3.4).
NOTE!
Pneumatic adjustment
As a rule, the pressure on the Multi Disc in the version with pneu-
matic adjustment is adapted by means of a control unit.
NOTE!
HP version
The press channel (3.3) is designed as a fluid-permeable filter
press channel in the HP version in order to achieve very high dry
solids contents (DS contents) in the solid phase.
3.1.4 Drive connection
The Bioselect is equipped with a motor plate (6.1), onto which the
corresponding gear motor (hollow shaft with keyway) is flanged.
