4-OPERATINGINSTRUCTIONS
Thismachinemaybeequippedwithenginegridheater.
TurnthekeyswitchtoONandiftheenginegridheater
indicatorison,waituntilitgoesout.Theindicatormay
comeonagainduringcrankingandshortlyaftertheen-
ginestartsforpostheating.Thisallowsforsmoothrun-
ningconditionsduringcoldweatherwarm-up.Contact
yourdealerforadditionalcoldweatherstartingaids.
Machinewarm-up
Duringthisperiod:
•
Afterinitialstart-up,theenginelowidlespeedmayin-
creasetowarmuptheengine.
•
Afterenginewarm-up,tounlockallhydraulicfunctions
pressthehydraulicfunctionslock-outbuttononthe
multifunctionkeypad.Atthistime,placetheliftarminto
oatandthebucketintorollbacktoloadtheenginein
ordertoheatthehydraulicoil.Holdforapproximately
twominutes.Applyandholdthefootbrake,cyclethe
liftarmandbucket.Repeattheoat/rollbackheating
procedureagainforapproximatelytwominutes.Raise
theliftarmenoughtosteertheunitfullleftandrightto
warmtheoilinthesteeringcylinders.Inextremecold
conditions,holdtheoat/rollbackconditionforve
minutesmaximum.
•
Evenwiththecorrectoilinthehydraulic/brakesys-
tem,therstfewtimestheoperatoractuatesthebrakes
theremaybesomedelaybeforethebrakeswork.The
operatormustactuatethebrakepedalaminimumof8
to10timestoobtainproperheatingpriortomovingthe
machine.Actuatingandreleasingthebrakesshould
occurinacycleof3secondsfullonand3secondsoff
toobtainexchangeofthebrakeoil.

Inextremecoldweatherconditions,thebrakeresponse
canbeslow.Usethecorrectoilinthehydraulic/brake
systeminpersistentlysevereapplications.Contact
yourdealerforthecorrectoil.
•
Whenyouhavecorrectlywarmedupthemachine,ap-
plythefootbrakeandhold,pushtheparkingbraketo
OFFposition,shiftthetransmissiontoFORWARD,and
releasethefootbrake.Operatethemachineinaclear
safearea.Checkthefulloperationofthemachine.
NOTICE:DONOToperatethemachineontheroaduntil
youhavecorrectlywarmedupthetransmissionoiland
axleoil.Operatethemachineinaclearsafeareabefore
roadoperationinrstandsecondgearonly.
•
Ifyouhaveleftthemachineidlingincoldtempera-
ture,theenginewillstaywarm,butthehydraulic/brake
oilandtheaxleoilwillnotstaywarm.Theoiland
componentscanbecomecoldandslowbrakefunction
responsetime.IfthisshouldhappenyouMUSTgo
throughthecompletewarm-upprocedure.
NOTE:thetransmissionisequippedwithinternalprotec-
tionthatdoesnotallowthetransmissiontoengageifthe
oiltemperatureisbelow-12°C(10°F).Ifthetransmis-
siondoesnotengage,allow2to4minutesofrunningin
NEUTRALandtryagain.
