Checkthebatteryuidlevelevery500hoursofopera-
tionormoreoftenifconditionsaresevere.Thebattery
uidcandecreasewithhightemperatures.
1.Insertaatbladescrewdriverintoslotsatthetopof
batterycaps.Removethecellcapsandcheckthelevel
ineachbatterycell.Thelevelshouldbenolessthan
4.8mm(0.2in)fromthetopofthelid.Adddistilled
waterifnecessary,theninstallthecellcaps.
NOTE:wipethetopofthebatteryorusecompressedair
toremovedust.Usecarewhenremovingcapsanddonot
allowdirtorcontaminantstoenterthebatterycells.
NOTICE:continuoususeofthebatterywithlowuidwill
lowerbatteryperformance.
2.Iftheterminalsaredirty,washwithwarmwater.Rein-
stalltheterminals,applygreaseorsprayrustpreven-
tivesolutiontocreategoodconnections.
3.Iftheterminalisoxidized,polishitwithawirebrushor
emerypaper.
NOTE:measurethespecicgravityofbatteryuidwitha
gravimeter.Themeasuredvaluewillvarydependingon
theambienttemperature.
