SETTING UP REDUNDANT OPERATION
After completing the preceding steps, you must now make sure Redundancy settings
are correct for each SC5100. Again your Eth 4 port of each SC5100 must be connected to
your computer and you must enter e-Genius.
To view and edit the Redundant Operation Settings:
1. In the menu under Modify Settings, navigate to Controller Settings | Redundant
Operation. The Redundant Operation window opens.
2. Enter the appropriate information in the form as described below:
NOTE: The Operating Mode must be set to PackTrack for this option to be
available.
WARNING: In a redundant (REDS) system with Start Input From Bus
selected in Operating Mode (see Operating Mode in Online Help), the PLC
must trigger both SC5100s. Both SC5100s need to receive the same trigger
so the redundant controller is able to compare packages with the packages
of the active controller. This is true for all fieldbus.
WARNING: The Ethernet/IP addresses of the redundant SC5100s will
switch if the “Primary” SC5100 fails and the “Backup” SC5100 takes over,
allowing the PLC to find a consistent IP address.
For other fieldbus, the IP address will not switch, so the PLC has to be con-
nected to both IP Addresses and check for data on both controllers.
