6.22.2 SPM Replacement
Note!
Placing SPM into maintenance mode is required only when changing out a working SPM or
changing encryption types. In this case, print out the challenge code and obtain a response code
from the Helpdesk. See the SPM service manual if necessary. If the SPM has failed, it is not
necessary to enter the maintenance mode.

Turn off power at the dispenser switch.

Disconnect all cables from the SPM. Fig 6.77.

Loosen the (2) Phillips screws at the top, then tilt the SPM forward and remove.

Install new SPM.

Reconnect cables and ground wire.

Turn power on.

Follow the iX R2 Startup Configuration procedures in Appendix A of this manual to place the
SPM into Operation Mode.

Run a sale to test operation.
If the Helpdesk has requested the log files, they can be retrieved as follows: Insert the USB drive
provided into either of the USB ports on the iX board. Reboot iX board. Remove the USB drive
when the screen displays “System initializing…”. Use laptop to verify that log files were copied
to the USB drive. The files should be in the fueling point number subfolder in the “Log” folder.
The files are Asset.xml, DMWatchdogTimer.log, and RDMLog.xml. Only these files should be
on the thumb drive.
