Easy
Play “Shush!” when it hears a loud sound
1. Under If on a blank behavior tab, checkmark Sound and select a volume level from
the Level checkboxes (volume increases from left to right).
2. Under Then, click on Play a Sound and type, “Shush!” in the Phrase to Speak field.
3. Click on the Behavior Settings button in the upper right of the screen.
4. Click on the Run tab and checkmark the box labeled Let behavior run more than
once.
5. Click on the Ok button.
6. Click ER1’s Run it button.
7. Whenever ER1 hears a loud sound, it will say, “Shush!”
8. Save the behavior and then click on Open to get a new, blank behavior set.
Give homework reminders every day before the end of class
1. Under If on a blank behavior tab, checkmark Time and set the time when you want
ER1 to remind the class to do its homework. So, if the class ends at 4:00 P.M. every
day, enter 3:59 P.M. and select Daily.
2. Under Then, click on Play a Sound and type, “Class! Don’t forget to do your
homework.” in the Phrase to Speak field.
3. Click ER1’s Run it button.
4. ER1 should remind the class every day at 3:59 P.M.: “Class! Don’t forget to do your
homework.”
5. Save the behavior and then click on Open to get a new, blank behavior set.
Tell people when it’s time to cut the cake at your child’s birthday party
1. Under If on a blank behavior tab, checkmark Time and set the time when you want
ER1 to tell people it’s time to cut the cake. If you want to cut the cake at 2:00 P.M.,
enter 2:00 P.M. and select Once.
2. Under Then, click on Play a Sound and type, “Hey everybody! It’s time to cut the
cake.” in the Phrase to Speak field.
3. Click ER1’s Run it button.
4. At 2:00 P.M. ER1 should say, “Hey everybody! It’s time to cut the cake.”
5. Save the behavior and then click on Open to get a new, blank behavior set.
Email video of the party every hour to a sick friend who couldn’t make it
1. Under If on a blank behavior tab, checkmark Time and set the time when you want to
shoot the video. It’ll take a few minutes to round up everybody, so let’s set the time to
ten minutes from now (let’s say that’s 4:00 P.M.), then set the frequency to “Once.”
