Installing Internal Options
■ How to Remove Internal Hard Disk Units
1 Turn off the server and all peripheral devices. Also unplug all power cables from
the server.

2 Touch a metal part of the server to discharge static electricity.
3 Remove the internal hard disk unit.
Raise the handle while pushing the tab at the front of the internal hard disk unit to be removed (1)
and draw it forward (2). Pull out the internal hard disk unit with both hands.
4 Install a new internal hard disk unit or a dummy unit.
■ Replacing Defective Internal Hard Disk Units
If a hard disk unit fails, it can be replaced and recovered without turning off the power of the server and
peripheral devices.(Hot swap/hot plug support.) For a detailed explanation about the array system and
how to replace defective hard disk units, see the "MegaRAID SAS User's Guide" in the "Array
Controller Documents & Tool CD".
