2.9 Activation
Purpose
Linking the vehicle to the IIDTool in addition to providing the user with exclusive access to Advanced
Programming Functions (section 1.4.2), updates, data backup and faster access to functions when
connecting the tool to the vehicle.
Principle
• Discover the unique Activation Code to each IIDTool. This is done on the vehicle, through the
integrated interface, PC or mobile application.
• Obtain the Unlock Code on the manufacturer’s website using the activation code. This code will
be visible on the screen and transmitted by email within minutes.
Warning Activating the IIDTool takes only a few minutes. It requires that the vehicle ignition be turned
ON (position “ON or II”), but starting the engine is not essential. If the user wants to explore the menu
during this stage, starting the vehicle is needed (in safe environment) or provisions should be taken to
avoid discharging the vehicle battery (section 2.7).
General Prerequisites

• Haveaccesstothevehicleinasafeenvironment(section 2.7)
• KnowwheretheOBDIIconnectorislocated(section 2.8.1)
• BefamiliarwiththeproleoftheselectedInterfaceControls(section 2.8.3, section 2.8.4 and
section 2.8.5)
WARNING
The vehicle must be in a safe environment!
Ensure the vehicle is in park:
-Automatic transmission: In “Park”
-Manual transmission: In neutral position with the parking brake
engaged.
