5.8.2 Spontaneous breathing/CPAP in detail
True spontaneous breathing will occur:
- In Pressure Support when the inspiratory
pressure level is set to zero
Inspiration starts upon patient effort.
Expiration starts:
• When the inspiratory flow decreases below
a preset fraction of the inspiratory peak flow
(End inspiration)
• If the upper pressure limit is exceeded.
• Maximum time for inspiration is exceeded.
