Step 6 Hold the ejector lever, pull out the drive for about 3 cm (1.18 in.), and wait for the
drive to stop working. See (2) in Figure 7-8. Wait for at least 30 seconds until the
drive stops working. Then remove the drive from the RH2288H V3. See (3) in
Figure 7-8.
Step 7 Place the removed drive in an ESD bag.
Step 8 (Optional) If you do not install a new drive immediately, install a
ller panel in
the slot.

7.6 Installing a Drive
Install a drive to replace the original one or add a new drive.
You do not need to power
o the server when installing a drive.
After disconnecting a drive from its backplane, wait for 30 seconds and then
remove the drive from the server. The drive fault alarm will be cleared after the
RAID array is rebuilt. To prevent new alarms, do not frequently hot swap a drive.
Procedure
Step 1 Wear an ESD wrist strap. For details, see 1 Safety Instructions.
Step 2 Remove the drive to be replaced. For details, see 7.5 Removing a Drive.
Step 3 Take the spare drive out of its ESD bag.
Step 4 Fully raise the ejector lever and push the drive into the chassis along the guide
rails until it does not move. See (1) in Figure 7-9.
