Connect for Communication
Choose the communication method that is best for your cutting system. There are 3 communication
methods to fully operate the cutting system:
 EtherCAT – Use this method with an EtherCAT-compatible controller. Refer to How to
connect to the plasma power supply with EtherCAT on page 149.

If you use EtherCAT, do not use discrete. You can fully operate the cutting
sy
stem with EtherCAT. Refer to Table 23 on page 148.
 Serial RS-422 and discrete – Use this method with a serial RS-422 and
discrete-compatible controller
.
 Refer to How to connect to the plasma power supply with serial RS-422 on page 151.
 Refer to How to connect to the plasma power supply with discrete on page 154.

If you use serial RS-422, you must also use discrete to fully operate the
cu
tting system. Refer to Table 23 on page 148.
 Wireless (XPR Web Interface) and discrete – Use this method with a wireless-enabled
device and
discrete-compatible controller.
 Refer to How to connect to the plasma power supply with the XPR web interface on
page
166.
 Refer to How to connect to the plasma power supply with discrete on page 154.

If you use wireless, you must also use discrete to fully operate the cutting
sy
stem. Refer to Table 23 on page 148.
