Grounding Cable and Lug Specicaons for an EX4600 Switch
For installaons that require a separate grounding conductor to the chassis, the switch must be
adequately grounded before power is connected to ensure proper operaon and to meet safety and
electromagnec interference (EMI) requirements. To ground an EX4600 switch, connect a grounding
cable to earth ground and then aach it to the chassis grounding points.
WARNING: The switch is pluggable type A equipment installed in a restricted-access
locaon. It has a separate protecve earthing terminal provided on the chassis in
addion to the grounding pin of the power supply cord. This separate protecve
earthing terminal must be permanently connected to earth ground for installaons that
require a separate grounding conductor to the chassis.
CAUTION: Before switch installaon begins, a licensed electrician must aach a cable
lug to the grounding cables that you supply. See "Connecng Earth Ground to an
EX4600 Switch" on page 77. A cable with an incorrectly aached lug can damage the
switch.
Before connecng the switch to earth ground, review the following informaon:
• A protecve earthing terminal bracket is provided in the accessory kit for connecng the switch to
earth ground. This L-shaped bracket aaches to the side of the EX4600 chassis through the
mounng bracket, providing a protecve earthing terminal for the switch.
• The grounding lug required is a Panduit LCD10-10A-L or equivalent (not provided).. The grounding
lug should accommodates 14–10 AWG (2–5.3 mm²) stranded wire.
