Grounding Cable and Lug Specicaons for an EX4600 Switch
For installaons that require a separate grounding conductor to the chassis, the switch must be
adequately grounded before power is connected to ensure proper operaon and to meet safety and
electromagnec interference (EMI) requirements. To ground an EX4600 switch, connect a grounding
cable to earth ground and then aach it to the chassis grounding points.
WARNING: The switch is pluggable type A equipment installed in a restricted-access
locaon. It has a separate protecve earthing terminal provided on the chassis in
addion to the grounding pin of the power supply cord. This separate protecve
earthing terminal must be permanently connected to earth ground for installaons that
require a separate grounding conductor to the chassis.
CAUTION: Before switch installaon begins, a licensed electrician must aach a cable
lug to the grounding cables that you supply. See "Connecng Earth Ground to an
EX4600 Switch" on page 77. A cable with an incorrectly aached lug can damage the
switch.
Before connecng the switch to earth ground, review the following informaon:
A protecve earthing terminal bracket is provided in the accessory kit for connecng the switch to
earth ground. This L-shaped bracket aaches to the side of the EX4600 chassis through the
mounng bracket, providing a protecve earthing terminal for the switch.
The grounding lug required is a Panduit LCD10-10A-L or equivalent (not provided).. The grounding
lug should accommodates 14–10 AWG (2–5.3 mm²) stranded wire.
