Hopper Wings
The hopper wings are hydraulically opened so the
hopper can be lled with paving material. (Figure 4-16)
Conveyor paddles in the bottom move the asphalt back
to the auger, where the mix ows through the cut-off
gates to the screed.
To operate the hopper wings:
1. Push the hopper wings switch to OUT on the
operator control panel to fold out hopper wings.
(Page 3-6)
2. Be sure the hopper wings are completely extended
before receiving paving material from the truck.
3. Push the hopper wings switch to IN to close the
hopper wings.
DO NOT fold in the hopper wings when
the hopper is full of asphalt. DO NOT fold in the
hopper until the material truck has moved completely
away from the paver.

Conveyor
The conveyor is a very important part of the paver. Pay
close attention to integrating its operation into the total
operation of the paver. (Figure 4-16)
NOTE: Operating the conveyors in manual mode
with the augers in automatic mode is the
preferred method for paving with the LeeBoy
Model 8616B Conveyor Paver.
When operating the conveyor:
• Spray down the conveyor drive chains with cleaning
solvent or release agent several times during the
work day for optimum performance.
• If the conveyors are running while the cut-off gates
are closed, there will be spillage, which is normal.
To help prevent this spillage, work conveyors
manually when loading hopper and not paving.
• Irregular movement of the conveyor indicates that
the conveyor chains need adjustment. (Figure
4-17)
NOTE: Check conveyor chain adjustment every 100
hours. (Pages 5-7 to 5-8)

Never leave the paver unattended
while the conveyor is operating.
To operate the conveyor:
1. On the operator control panel, turn the left and right
sonic paddle switches to the PADDLE position.
2. Slowly turn the left and right conveyor dials
clockwise until reaching desired speed.
NOTE: Start with the left and right dials set to the
mid-range position, adjusting speed as needed to
avoid overlling the auger.
