driveisnotrecognized.
1.ObservetheassociatedyellowharddiskdrivestatusLED.IftheLEDislit,it
indicatesadrivefault.
2.IftheLEDislit,removethedrivefromthebay,wait45seconds,andreinsert
thedrive,makingsurethatthedriveassemblyconnectstotheharddiskdrive
backplane.
3.ObservetheassociatedgreenharddiskdriveactivityLEDandtheyellow
statusLED:
IfthegreenactivityLEDisflashingandtheyellowstatusLEDisnotlit,the
driveisrecognizedbythecontrollerandisworkingcorrectly.RuntheDSA
harddiskdrivetesttodeterminewhetherthedriveisdetected.
IfthegreenactivityLEDisflashingandtheyellowstatusLEDisflashing
slowly,thedriveisrecognizedbythecontrollerandisrebuilding.
IfneitherLEDislitorflashing,checktheharddiskdrivebackplane(goto
step4).
IfthegreenactivityLEDisflashingandtheyellowstatusLEDislit,replace
thedrive.IftheactivityoftheLEDsremainsthesame,gotostep4.Ifthe
activityoftheLEDschanges,returntostep1.
4.Makesurethattheharddiskdrivebackplaneiscorrectlyseated.Whenitis
correctlyseated,thedriveassembliescorrectlyconnecttothebackplane
withoutbowingorcausingmovementofthebackplane.
5.Reseatthebackplanepowercableandrepeatsteps1through3.
6.Reseatthebackplanesignalcableandrepeatsteps1through3.
7.Reseatthebackplaneconfigurationcableandrepeatsteps1through3.
8.Suspectthebackplanesignalcableorthebackplane:
Replacetheaffectedbackplanesignalcable.
Replacetheaffectedbackplane.
9.RuntheDSAtestsfortheSAS/SATAadapterandharddiskdrives(see“IBM
DynamicSystemAnalysis”onpage98
).
Iftheadapterpassesthetestbutthedrivesarenotrecognized,replacethe
backplanesignalcableandrunthetestsagain.
Replacethebackplane.
Iftheadapterfailsthetest,disconnectthebackplanesignalcablefromthe
adapterandrunthetestsagain.
Iftheadapterfailsthetest,replacetheadapter.
