CorrupteddatainCMOSmemoryorcorruptedUEFIfirmwarecancauseundeterminedproblems.Toreset
theCMOSdata,usetheCMOSclearjumper(JP1)tocleartheCMOSmemoryandoverridethepower-on
password;see“System-boardinternalconnectors”onpage21formoreinformation.Ifyoususpectthatthe
UEFIfirmwareiscorrupted,see“Recoveringtheserverfirmware(UEFIupdatefailure)”onpage118

Ifthepowersuppliesareworkingcorrectly,completethefollowingsteps:
Step1.Turnofftheserver.
Step2.Makesurethattheserveriscabledcorrectly.
Step3.Removeordisconnectthefollowingdevices,oneatatime,untilyoufindthefailure.Turnonthe
serverandreconfigureiteachtime.
•Anyexternaldevices.
•Surge-suppressordevice(ontheserver).
•Printer,mouse,andnon-IBMdevices.
•Eachadapter.
•Harddiskdrives.

Step4.Turnontheserver.Iftheproblemremains,suspectthefollowingcomponentsinthefollowingorder:
1.Powersupply
2.Memory
3.Microprocessor
4.Systemboard
Iftheproblemissolvedwhenyouremoveanadapterfromtheserverbuttheproblemrecurswhenyou
reinstallthesameadapter,suspecttheadapter;iftheproblemrecurswhenyoureplacetheadapterwith
adifferentone,suspecttherisercard.
Ifyoususpectanetworkingproblemandtheserverpassesallthesystemtests,suspectanetworkcabling
problemthatisexternaltotheserver.
