Attention:Whenyouinstallanadapter,makesurethattheadapteriscorrectlyseatedinthePCI
riser-cardassemblyandthatthePCIriser-cardassemblyissecurelyseatedintheriser-card
connectoronthesystemboardbeforeyouturnontheserver.Anincorrectlyseatedadaptermight
causedamagetothesystemboard,thePCIriser-cardassembly,ortheadapter.
Ifyouhaveotherdevicestoinstall,dosonow.Otherwise,goto“Completingtheinstallation”onpage54.
Note:IftheserverisconfiguredforRAIDoperationthroughanoptionalServeRAIDadapter,youmighthave

Important:ToensurethatanyofyourServeRAIDadaptersfunctionproperlyonUEFI-basedservers,make
surethattheadapterfirmwareandsupportingdevicedriversareupdatedtothelatestversion.

Ifyouareinstallinganoptionaldeviceintheserver,turnofftheserverandperipheraldevices,anddisconnect
thepowercordsandallexternalcables.
ToinstallanIBMServeRAIDadapter,completethefollowingsteps.
Step1.RemovethePCIriser-cardassembly(see“RemovingthePCIriser-cardassembly”onpage37).
Step2.Removetheexpansion-slotcoverontheslotthatyouintendtouseandsaveforfutureuse.
Attention:PCIexpansion-slotcoversmustbeinstalledonallvacantslots.Thismaintainsthe
electronicemissionsstandardsoftheserverandensuresproperventilationofservercomponents.
