theyellowharddiskdrivestatusLEDofadriveislitcontinuously,thatdriveisfaultyandmust
bereplaced.IfthegreenharddiskdriveactivityLEDisflashing,thedriveisbeingaccessed.
Note:IftheserverisconfiguredforRAIDoperationusingaServeRAIDadapter,youmight
havetoreconfigureyourdiskarraysafteryouinstallharddiskdrives.SeetheServeRAID
adapterdocumentationforadditionalinformationaboutRAIDoperationandcomplete
instructionsforusingtheServeRAIDadapter.
Step4.Ifyouareinstallingadditionalhot-swapharddiskdrives,dosonow.
Ifyouhaveotherdevicestoinstall,dosonow.Otherwise,goto“Completingtheinstallation”onpage54.

Ifyouareinstallinganoptionaldeviceintheserver,turnofftheserverandperipheraldevices,anddisconnect
thepowercordsandallexternalcables.
Toinstallasimple-swapharddiskdrive,completethefollowingsteps:
Step1.Removethefillerpanelfromtheemptydrivebay.
Step2.Touchthestatic-protectivepackagethatcontainsthedrivetoanyunpaintedmetalsurfaceonthe
server;then,removethedrivefromthepackageandplaceitonastatic-protectivesurface.
Step3.Installtheharddiskdriveinthedrivebay:
a.Grasptheblackdrivehandleandslidethebluereleaselatchtotherightandalignthedrive
assemblywiththeguiderailsinthebay.
