Step1.Disconnecttheacpowercordfromtheconnectoronthepowersupplythatyouareremoving.
Disconnectallexternalcables.
Step2.Removethecover(see“Removingthecover”onpage131).
Attention:Toensurepropercoolingandairflow,donotoperatetheserverformorethan30
minuteswiththetopcoverremoved.
Step3.Removetheharddiskdrivebackplaneorbackplateassembly(see“Removingthesimple-swap
harddiskdrivebackplateassembly”onpage172or“Removingthehot-swapharddiskdrive
backplane”onpage179
).
Step4.Disconnectthepower-supplycablesfromtheconnectorsonthesystemboardandinternal
devices;then,disengagethecablesfromanyretention-clips.
Note:Notetheroutingofallpower-supplycables;youwillroutethepower-supplycablesthe
samewaywhenyouinstallthepowersupply.
Step5.Removethescrewthatholdsthepowersupplytotherearofthechassis.
Step6.Loosenthecaptivethumbscrewthatsecurestherearofthepowersupplytothechassisbottom.
Step7.Liftthepowersupplyoutofthebay.
Ifyouareinstructedtoreturntheservercomponentoroptionaldevice,followallpackaginginstructions,
anduseanypackagingmaterialsforshippingthataresuppliedtoyou.
Replacingthefixedpowersupply
Usethisinformationtoreplacethefixedpowersupply.
Whenyouremoveorinstallthefixedpowersupply,observethefollowingprecautions.
