Ifyouarereplacingaservercomponentintheserver,youneedtoturnofftheserverandperipheraldevices,
anddisconnectthepowercordsandallexternalcables.
Toremovethehot-swapharddiskdrivebackplane,completethefollowingsteps:

Step1.Turnofftheserverandperipheraldevicesanddisconnectallpowercords.
Step2.Removetheserverfromtherackandplaceitonaflat,static-protectivesurface.
Step3.Pulltheharddiskdrivesoutoftheserverslightlytodisengagethemfromthebackplane.
Step4.Removethecover(see“Removingthecover”onpage131).
Step5.Liftthebackplateoutoftheserver.
Step6.Makenoteofwherethecablesareattachedtothebackplate;then,disconnectthem.
Step7.Ifyouareinstructedtoreturnthebackplate,followallpackaginginstructions,anduseany
packagingmaterialsforshippingthataresuppliedtoyou.
