ChangingthePowerPolicyoptiontothedefaultsettingsafterloading
UEFIdefaults
ThedefaultsettingsforthePowerPolicyoptionaresetbytheIMM2.
TochangethePowerPolicyoptiontothedefaultsettings,completethefollowingsteps.
Step1.Turnontheserver.
Note:Approximately20secondsaftertheserverisconnectedtoACpower,thepower-control
buttonbecomesactive.
Step2.Whentheprompt<F1>Setupisdisplayed,pressF1.Ifyouhavesetanadministratorpassword,you
musttypetheadministratorpasswordtoaccessthefullSetuputilitymenu.Ifyoudonottypethe
administratorpassword,alimitedSetuputilitymenuisavailable.
Step3.SelectSystemSettingsIntegratedManagementModule,thensetPowerRestorePolicy
settingtoRestore.
Step4.GobacktoSystemConfigurationandBootManagementSaveSettings.
Step5.GobackandcheckthePowerPolicysettingtoverifythatitissettoRestore(thedefault).
Attention:Ifyousetanadministratorpasswordandthenforgetit,thereisnowaytochange,override,
orremoveit.Youmustreplacethesystemboard.
UsingtheIntegratedManagementModuleII(IMM2)
TheIntegratedManagementModuleII(IMM2)isasecondgenerationofthefunctionsthatwereformerly
providedbythebaseboardmanagementcontrollerhardware.Itcombinesserviceprocessorfunctions,video
controller,andremotepresencefunctioninasinglechip.
TheIMM2supportsthefollowingbasicsystems-managementfeatures:
ActiveEnergyManager.
Alerts(in-bandandout-of-bandalerting,PETtraps-IPMIstyle,SNMP,e-mail).
AutoBootFailureRecovery(ABR).
Automaticmicroprocessordisableonfailureandrestartinatwo-microprocessorconfigurationwhenone
microprocessorsignalsaninternalerror.Whenoneofthemicroprocessorsfail,theserverwilldisablethe
failingmicroprocessorandrestartwiththeothermicroprocessor.
AutomaticServerRestart(ASR)whenPOSTisnotcompleteortheoperatingsystemhangsandthe
operatingsystemwatchdogtimertimes-out.TheIMM2mightbeconfiguredtowatchfortheoperating
systemwatchdogtimerandrebootthesystemafteratimeout,iftheASRfeatureisenabled.Otherwise,
theIMM2allowstheadministratortogenerateanonmaskableinterrupt(NMI)bypressinganNMIbutton
onthelightpathdiagnosticspanelforanoperating-systemmemorydump.ASRissupportedbyIPMI.
