Ifyouareinstallinganoptionaldeviceintheserver,turnofftheserverandperipheraldevices,anddisconnect
thepowercordsandallexternalcables.
Toinstallanadapter,completethefollowingsteps.
Step1.RemovethePCIriser-cardassembly(see“RemovingthePCIriser-cardassembly”onpage37).
Step2.Touchthestatic-protectivepackagethatcontainstheadaptertoanyunpaintedmetalsurfaceon
theserver;then,removetheadapterfromthepackage.
Step3.Placetheadapter,componentsideup,onaflat,static-protectivesurfaceandsetanyjumpersor
switchesasdescribedbytheadaptermanufacturer,ifnecessary.
Step4.Followthecablinginstructions,ifanycomewiththeadapter.Routetheadaptercablesbefore
youinstalltheadapter.
Step5.Removetheexpansion-slotcoverfromthePCIriser-cardassemblyandsaveforfutureuse.
Step6.AligntheconnectorontheadapterwiththeconnectoronthePCIriser-cardassembly,then,insert
theadapterintothePCIriser-cardassembly.PresstheedgeoftheconnectorfirmlyintothePCI
riser-cardassembly.MakesurethattheadapterissecurelyinstalledinthePCIriser-cardassembly.
Important:MakesurethattheU-shapedopeninginthemetaladapterbracketengagesthe
tabontheexpansion-slotbracket.
