Note:Whenyoureplacethesystemboard,youmusteitherupdatetheserverwiththelatestfirmwareor
restorethepre-existingfirmwarethatthecustomerprovidesonadisketteorCDimage.Makesurethatyou
havethelatestfirmwareoracopyofthepre-existingfirmwarebeforeyouproceed
Toremovethesystemboard,completethefollowingsteps.
Step1.Removethecover(see“Removingthecover”onpage131).
Step2.Removetheairbaffle(see“Removingtheairbaffle”onpage135).
Step3.RemovethePCIriser-cardassembly(see“RemovingthePCIriser-cardassembly”onpage136).
Step4.Notewherethecablesareconnectedtothesystemboard;then,disconnectthem.
Attention:Disengagealllatches,releasetabsorlocksoncableconnectorswhenyoudisconnect
allcablesfromthesystemboard.Failingtoreleasethembeforeremovingthecableswilldamage
thecablesocketsonthesystemboard.Thecablesocketsonthesystemboardarefragile.Any
damagetothecablesocketsmayrequirereplacingthesystemboard.
Step5.Removeanyofthefollowingcomponentsthatareinstalledonthesystemboardandputthemina
safe,static-protectiveplace:
•Adapters(see“Removinganadapter”onpage138)
•DIMMs(see“RemovingaDIMM”onpage154
Note:MakeanoteofthelocationofeachDIMMasyouremoveit,sothatyoucanlaterreinstall
itinthesameconnector.
