Whenyouturnofftheserverandleaveitconnectedtoacpower,theservercanrespondtorequestsfrom
IntegratedManagementModuleII(IMM2),suchasaremoterequesttoturnontheserver.Whiletheserver
remainsconnectedtoacpower,oneormorefansmightcontinuetorun.Toremoveallpowerfromthe
server,youmustdisconnectitfromthepowersource.
Someoperatingsystemsrequireanorderlyshutdownbeforeyouturnofftheserver.Seeyour
operating-systemdocumentationforinformationaboutshuttingdowntheoperatingsystem.

Thepowercontrolbuttononthedevicedonotturnofftheelectricalcurrentsuppliedtothedevice.
Thedevicealsomighthavemorethanonepowercord.Toremoveallelectricalcurrentfromthe
device,ensurethatallpowercordsaredisconnectedfromthepowersource.

Theservercanbeturnedoffinanyofthefollowingways:
•Youcanturnofftheserverfromtheoperatingsystem,ifyouroperatingsystemsupportsthisfeature.After
anorderlyshutdownoftheoperatingsystem,theserverwillturnoffautomatically.
•Youcanpressthepower-controlbuttontostartanorderlyshutdownoftheoperatingsystemandturnoff
theserver,ifyouroperatingsystemsupportsthisfeature.
•Iftheoperatingsystemstopsfunctioning,youcanpressandholdthepower-controlbuttonformore
than4secondstoturnofftheserver.
•TheservercanbeturnedoffbyWakeonLANfeaturewiththefollowinglimitation:
Note:WhenyouinstallanyPCIadapter,thepowercordsmustbedisconnectedfromthepowersource
beforeyouremovethePCIExpressassemblyandthePCI-Xassembly.Otherwise,theWakeonLAN
featuremightnotwork.
•TheIntegratedManagementModuleII(IMM2)canturnofftheserverasanautomaticresponsetoa
criticalsystemfailure.
