5.1.14 Polar and Glider
Use this dialog to enter glider polar and other glider properties. As default polar a glider of
standard class is selected.
Polars for most of modern gliders are already prepared. Press LIST button and dialog with
list of all available glider will be shown.
Select required glider using and press SELECT button. All glider data will be copied to
selected polar. One may quickly check best glider ratio and minimum sink rate to see, if
polar data match glider performance.
If user wants to modify polar, coefficient a, b and c must be used. Polar is defined as a
quadratic notation with the parameters a, b, and c. Program POLAR.EXE, which can be
downloaded from our web pages, must be used. The program requires that 3 points on the
new polar are entered at selected speeds (e.g.: 100 km/h, 130 km/h, and 150 km/h). The
program will then calculate the values of a, b and c which should be noted and entered into
LX8000.
Stall speed is used to generate stall warnings, which are available only with LX Voice module.
Weights must be entered, if user enters ballast in kilograms.
If new glider is selected on dialog exit, message “Do you to create new profile?” will be
asked. Answer YES, if you want quickly to add new profile. For more information about
profiles see chapter 5.1.12.
