Usually task sheet with observation zone definitions matching LX8000 observation zone
definition will be given. An example of task sheet is given in previous picture. However,
when assigned area is defined only with two radials and two radiuses some calculation must
be accomplished.
Let us assume assigned area defined as
Radial1=30°, Radial2=70°, Min.radius=50km and Max.radius=200km
To convert this description, following calculation must be performed
Direction set to FIXED
Angle12= (Radial2-Radial1)/2+180°=230°. Attention should be paid in north directions
Angle1= (Radial2- Radial1)/2=20°
Radius1=Max.radius=200km
Radius2=Min.radius=50km
7.2 Performing the flight
After take off, the unit will change over into flying mode. The pilot will notice this because
statistics page will change from logbook view to flight statistics.
7.2.1 Starting a task
Once you decide to start task, and glider enters start observation zone, message “Inside
start zone” will be displayed.
You may now leave the start observation zone and fly towards first turnpoint.
When leaving start observation zone message “Task started” will be shown.
Groundspeed and pressure altitude will also be shown in message. At bottom two buttons
will be displayed. CLOSE button is used, if this was not a valid start and you want to remove
message. If message is removed, it will appear again next time you leave start observation
zone. If you press START button, navigation will be advanced to first turning point.
Compared to LX7007 there is no need to press START inside start observation
zone. You may press it any time after leaving stat observation zone or crossing
start line. LX8000 will always take correct time for start time.
If for some reason you miss start message you may always start task pressing START
button. Go to task mode. Press any key. In top row button with START function is shown.
Press this button and navigation will be advanced to next turnpoint.
7.2.2 Restarting task
If for some reason you decide to abandon task and you would like to restart task, go to task
mode. Press any key. In top row button hint RESTART is shown. Press it. You have to
confirm restarting of task. Once task is restarted, navigation will be changed back to start
point.
