4.4 Switching off
Please use one of recommended methods for shutting down LX8000.
Method 1
Press button having the OFF label which is displayed in navigational modes. See chapter 5.5
for more details. Message to confirm shutdown will be shown.
Method 2
Press button with off symbol for approximately 4 seconds. OFF message will be displayed
and instrument will shut down. When message appears, you can release the power button.
Method 3
When button with off symbol is pressed for more than 8 seconds, LX80000 will unconditional
shutdown. This method is recommended only in case that LX8000 program hangs and it is
not possible to shutdown with methods 1 or 2.
In case that request for OFF is made during flight, the instrument will ask for confirmation so
the LX 8000 can not be switched off by mistake.
It is important LX8000 is switched off using software. Never power down LX8000
using main power switch. LX8000 is running Linux operating system and sudden
power loss may corrupt file system.
During flight, if main power is lost for a few seconds, the flight recorder will not
produce two flights. The most important flight parameter, altitude will remain,
which means that the final glide is not interrupted.
