Adjusting Double-Knife Timing
Timed double-knife drive headers (10.7 m [35 ft.] and smaller) require the knives to be properly timed to move in opposite
directions.
DANGER
To prevent bodily injury or death from the unexpected start-up or fall of a raised machine, always stop the engine and
remove the key before leaving the operator’s seat, and always engage the safety props before going under the
machine for any reason.
1. Shut down the engine, and remove the key from the ignition.
2. Open both endshields. For instructions, refer to Opening Endshield, page 35.
3. Remove the right knife drive belt. For instructions, refer to Removing Timed Knife Drive Belt, page 167.

4. Rotate the left knife drive box driven pulley clockwise until
left knife (A) is at the center of inboard stroke (B) (moving
towards the center of the header).
NOTE:
The center stroke is when knife sections (C) are centered
between the guard points.

5. Rotate the right knife drive box pulley counterclockwise
until right knife (A) is at the center of inboard stroke (B)
(moving towards the center of the header).

The center stroke is when knife sections (C) are centered
