14. Appendix C – Preventive and Periodical
Maintenance
This chapter describes periodic maintenance procedures.
Do not perform calibration or maintenance to the AlgoMed
while in use.
14.1 Periodical Visual Check
A periodical visual check is necessary for the Algometer system performance. The visual check
keeps Algometer and its accessories in operational condition at all times.
1. Check Algometer and all accessories visually
1.1. Check that there is no visible damage to the Algometer
1.2. Check that the communication cable is intact
1.3. Check that accessories connector is intact
1.4. Check that accessories body is intact
2. Assemble Algometer and connect it to the PC
3. Run a few test protocols, using the AlgoMed software, to verify Algometer runs without
problems
If the Algometer is not planned to be used in the coming weeks, store it in
its original package supplied by Medoc.
14.2 Calibration Verification
It is recommended to periodically verify the Algometer calibration is within acceptable
tolerance.
In order to verify the Algometer calibration, use the Calibration
verification weight (supplied by Medoc).
Follow the steps below in order to perform Calibration Verification:
1. Make sure AlgoMed is turned OFF.
2. Position the AlgoMed with its tip pointing upright as displayed in the image below
3. Turn the AlgoMed ON, and wait until it finishes initialization
4. Set AlgoMed units to Kgf by using the UNITS button
