4 Hardness test procedure
4.1 Hardness test
CAUTION
1. When rotating the Turret or up/down handle, prevent the specimen and the Manual
XY stage from colliding with the indenter or the Objective lens.
2. Do not touch the hardness testing machine during indentation. Failure to observe
this may cause machine trouble or disable normal hardness test.
4.1.1 Operation flow of hardness test
1. Confirm that the preparation for the test is done. Refer to Chap.3 for more details.
2. Turn on the power of the Manual main unit. Refer to 4.1.2 for further information.
3. Place a specimen. Refer to 4.1.3 for further information.
4. Adjust the focus on the specimen surface.
· Rotate the Turret to face the Objective lens having a desired magnification to the front side
of the hardness testing machine.
To rotate the Turret, either press (Turret rotation), or rotate it manually.
· Move the elevating shaft up or down to adjust the focus on the specimen surface.
5. Specify the test force.
Press
(test force change) on the touch panel to specify the test force.
* Refer to 5.6.3 for arbitrary test force.
6. Perform the test.
Press (INDENT) on the touch panel.
The Turret automatically rotates, and the indenter moves to the front side of the testing
machine, and then indentation starts.
