5.3.1 Surface correction setting (SURFACE)
It is applicable when the surface of the specimen is cylindrical or spherical.
When it is set to [ON], the compensation factor is displayed to indicate that the finalized d/D value
is within the surface correction range, and if it is out of compensation range, the [OK] display
stays.
WARNING
1. Make sure to set it [OFF], in case the specimen is flat.
2. Depending on the diameter of the specimen, correction cannot be performed.
3. Make sure to fix the specimen as its fixing method is suitable to the correction.
4. It can be applied only to the Vickers hardness test.
5. Make sure to set it [OFF] when operating other hardness test, since the test result
may be incorrect.
The items on the touch panel screen is as follows.
Display Specimen surface
CYLIND 45
Convex-cylinder surface with the diagonal line of
indentation lies 45° to the cylinder axis.
CYLIND PARA
Convex-cylinder surface with the diagonal line of
indentation lies parallel to the cylinder axis.
CYLIND 45
Concave-cylinder surface with the diagonal line of
indentation lies 45° to the cylinder axis.
CYLIND PARA
Concave-cylinder surface with the diagonal line of
indentation lies parallel to the cylinder axis.
SPHERI
Convex-spherical surface
SPHERI
Concave-spherical surface
1. Press the [SURFACE] button.
The "SURFACE" screen is displayed.
