Slide Scanner Repair Manual Functional Description
Main Controller PC Board Power Distribution
The main controller PC board contains voltage regulators that are used to power the RGB
reference circuitry and the slide scanner's cooling fan. Table 2-1 shows function of each
voltage regulator.
Table 2-2. Main Controller PC Board Voltage Regulators
Voltage Regulator Function
SS35/SS35 ES SS35 PLUS
U16 U14 Generates a regulated - 6 Vdc (NEG 6V) voltage
that is used to power the RGB reference circuitry
on the main controller PC board.
U17 U15 Generates a regulated + 6 Vdc voltage that is
used to power the RGB reference circuitry on the
main controller PC board.
U25 - Generates a regulated + 12 Vdc voltage that is
used to power the slide scanner's cooling fan.
- R133 Resistor R133 generates unregulated +12 Vdc that
is used to power the slide scanner's cooling fan.
Note:Only used on SS35 PLUS.
The main controller PC board also distributes the necessary power supply voltages (+ 5 Vdc,
+ 15 Vdc, - 15 Vdc) to power the following:
+ 5 Vdc •Primary correction ASIC,
•DRAM based buffer memory
•Secondary color correction ASIC
•SCSI interface
•Microcontroller
•Support electronic circuitry
•LED Indicators
•Filter wheel stepper motor (Used on original SprintScan 35 and SprintScan 35 ES
up to serial no. B6xxxxxxD).
+ 15 Vdc•Transporter stepper motor
+/- 15 Vdc/+5 Vdc•Image sensor PC board (CCD image sensor and its associated analog
signal processing support circuitry)
